The three sentences that matter: DiskBroom collects no data, has no analytics, and never transmits anything it finds on your Mac — not file names, not paths, not scan results. Everything the app scans stays on your Mac and is shown only to you. If you email support, we see what you send us and use it solely to help you.
The sections below exist because the website, purchases, and email are the only places any data touches us — and because we'd rather over-explain than make you wonder.
As of v1.3, the app makes exactly two kinds of network request. One: license activation and validation for Pro (sent: your license key and an anonymized machine identifier; not your name, email, or anything about your files). Two: update checks (added in v1.3 with the auto-updater, exactly as this policy promised in advance) — the app fetches the list of available versions from diskbroom.com, sending the app version and macOS version only. You can turn automatic checking off in Settings.
The app will never send scan results, file paths, deletion history, installed-application lists, or usage analytics. If a future feature ever needs to transmit anything beyond the two items above, this policy changes in the same release and the release notes will say so — we won't bury it.
diskbroom.com is static — no accounts, no analytics scripts, no advertising, no tracking cookies. Our hosting provider (GoDaddy) keeps standard server access logs (IP address, page requested, timestamp) for security, as nearly every web server does; we don't use them to identify visitors.
Pro licenses are sold by our merchant of record, Stripe (via Stripe Managed Payments), who processes your payment under their own privacy policy — we never see your card number. We receive your email address, license key, and purchase date, and use them solely to deliver the license, honor the money-back guarantee, and send transactional notices. No marketing email without your separate, explicit opt-in.
No selling or renting data. No advertising. No third-party analytics. No data brokers. No "anonymized" telemetry. No AI training on your data. If it isn't listed above, we don't collect it.
DiskBroom and this site are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email us and we will delete it.
Whatever your jurisdiction (GDPR, CCPA, or otherwise), the deal is the same: email support@diskbroom.com and we will tell you what we hold about you (typically: license records and any support emails), correct it, or delete it — within 30 days. EEA/UK residents may also lodge a complaint with their local supervisory authority.
If this policy changes materially, we update the effective date and note the change in the release notes; anything that expands what the app transmits gets said plainly before the update installs.
